ABOUT ME
My name is Deborah, working as a nail technician for 23 years, sharing recipes and menu ideas with my clients, is how it began. Playing in the kitchen was a way for me to not just relax and be creative, but to share, and show love to family and friends.
After 23 years working at something I loved and enjoyed, I stepped into a new adventure with a dear friend, helping him to pursue his dream. During the infancy of that business, I had a life altering experience that completely changed the trajectory of my life. One week into recovery I was let go from that position, and lost more than just a job. God had another plan! Searching to find a new normal, and my next steps, I turned to one of the things that helped me focus, that I loved to do and was enjoyable….Cooking!!!
What started out as therapy for healing mind, body and soul, turned into a project, a cookbook!! It was time to reinvent myself using the gift of food. As the saying goes “real cooks don’t measure” well, that’s me. So with a notebook on my counter to write down every detail, while I created and played, Permission to Play in the Kitchen was born!!
Once the cookbook was complete, and being proud of the finished product, I wanted to do more. The creative food ideas for various cuisines needed a new outlet. Not to mention my desire to help others truly connect with real food there by reconnecting them with family and friends. What evolved were new services to highlight the creativity.
